Nicholas F. Benson, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. Nicholas F. Benson is an associate professor of educational psychology. He is a Texas Licensed Psychologist (#37757), Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (#71457), and Nationally Certified School Psychologist (#36918). He teaches courses in intellectual assessment, academic assessment, evaluation, and academic intervention. Dr. Benson’s research interests focus broadly on psychological and educational assessment, with emphasis on examining the validity of interpretations and uses of test scores. Dr. Benson is an associate editor for Journal of School Psychology. He also serves on the editorial boards for Estudos de Psicologia-PUC Campinas, European Journal of Psychological Assessment, Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, Psychological Assessment, School Psychology, and School Psychology International. He has published research in leading journals, including Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, Journal of School Psychology, Multivariate Behavioral Research, Psychological Assessment, School Psychology, Structural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal, and School Psychology Review. He is an active member of the American Psychological Association, Division 16 (School Psychology) of the American Psychological Association, and the National Association of School Psychologists.
Dr. Benson earned his Ph.D. and Education Specialist degrees at the University of Florida with a specialty in school psychology. He holds M.S. and B.A. degrees in psychology from Illinois State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead, respectively.
