About Us

The Department of Educational Psychology (EDP) offers a wide array of exciting opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. At the graduate level, we offer a PhD degree in Educational Psychology, an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in School Psychology, and Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology. For undergraduates, the EDP offers teacher-certification programs in Special Education and Gifted & Talented.

The PhD program in Educational Psychology affords graduate students the opportunity to select a specialization in Exceptionalities, Learning and Development, Measurement, or School Psychology.

The EdS degree in School Psychology prepares students to practice psychology in school based settings. It is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Graduates are typically employed in school-based settings. Several graduates have been selected for outstanding practice awards by their state school psychology associations.

The teacher-certification programs in Special Education and Gifted and Talented have produced high quality teachers for many school districts. Several recent graduates from these programs have been selected for teacher-of-the-year awards at their schools.

The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) specialization is designed for students who are interested in behavior management such as working with people with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism spectrum disorders). The ABA specialization prepares students to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA).
