Marley W. Watkins, Ph.D., ABPP
Research Professor
Dr. Marley W. Watkins served in the United States Air Force, where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, and Distinguished Flying Cross. He received his Ph.D. in educational psychology and measurements with a specialty in school psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was a practicing school psychologist for 15 years before entering academia. He is currently Research Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Baylor University’s School of Education. Previous academic positions include Professor and Chairman of the Department of Educational Psychology at Baylor University, Training Director and Professor in the doctoral school psychology program at Arizona State University, and Professor-in-Charge of Graduate Programs in School Psychology at the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Watkins has published more than 180 peer-reviewed journal articles, made more than 130 presentations at professional conferences, and served as an editorial reviewer for more than 30 professional journals. He authored "A Step-by-Step Guide to Exploratory Factor Analysis with R and RStudio," "A Step-by-Step Guide to Exploratory Factor Analysis with SPSS," and "A Step-by-Step Guide to Exploratory Factor Analysis with Stata."
Dr. Watkins was elected Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology, Fellow of the School Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and member of the Society for the Study of School Psychology. His research interests include professional issues, the psychometrics of assessment and diagnosis, individual differences, and computer applications.
